Music has always been a fuel for emotions. Some songs pick you up when you are down, some make you reflect on where you have been and then there are some that become the anthem for a generation.
“Way of Life” is song about people who are proud of where they come from, regardless of where that is and if anyone likes it. A few of the best rural rap artists Demun Jones, The Lacs (Brian and Clay) and new comers Cypress Spring (Paul Roche Jr and Kalan ‘K-Mill’ Miller) really bring this new genre of music full circle with the lyrics and the sound.
“Rowdy as they come, proud of where we from, it might be the middle of nowhere to some, but they ain’t gotta like it and we don’t give a damn, cause we ain’t gonna change round here it’s a way of life.”
The chorus describes a country way of life that no everyone agrees with. A life that most run from, can’t wait to turn 18 and get away from. This song embraces a life that many can’t handle. These folks aren’t born with silver spoons in their mouths, nor do they care for that matter.
“My bloodline, my last name, ain’t shit changed about me, with that shotgun ain’t got to aim, keep drinking till I can’t see, livin way back in the sticks and I’m good right where I’m at.”
Finally, it seems ok to embrace a “Way of Life” that isn’t all peaches and cream. A life with hardships, struggles and life where you have to work hard to get the things you want. Impressing others isn’t on the agenda for this crew, but living every moment of life is. Cypress Spring you nailed it!
