Without the parks, where would we all go play? It sure takes a lot to keep a park running, from maintenance, to insurance, to safety, security and beyond. Our North Eastern correspondent Jon Balzarini reports in from “Backwoods 4×4”
I had the pleasure of chatting with “Backwoods” Tom Lord about his 4×4 park/farm, Backwoods Farm/4×4 on Rumney, NH. Backwoods is a fully functioning Farm, as well as a 4×4 park. Not only do they hold several events, they are also open for anyone to come play on any Non-event day for a small fee. This is what Tom had to Say about Backwoods 4×4.
Jon/WD: When did you open?
Backwoods Tom: We opened Backwoods to the Public in 2012. It started as some Trails for me and my Off roading buddies. Since Opening, we have added more Trails, a Concert Venue we are moving our Rock Crawl to make it Bigger and of course we have ” Muddy Road” our 225′ mud trench.
Jon/WD: Where are you located?
Backwoods Tom: We are located on the inner part of the White Mountains in Rumney, NH.
Jon/WD: How many acres do you maintain?
Backwoods Tom: Our park has 27.9 acres, but also houses our Dairy Goats.
Our 3.5 acre field is where you can park your rig and enjoy our Live Music as well.
Jon/WD: What kind of ride park is it? Mostly ATVs and SxS’s? Can trucks come play? Or is it event driven only?
Backwoods Tom: We open “most” of our events to any vehicle. We have something for everyone. We Run our Mud for Non-Competition, Come on in and run all day for the gate fee.
Jon/WD: What kind of events do you plan to have? Upcoming Events?
Backwoods Tom: Our Event schedule for 2015 is in full swing! We have GTD NH our Opening event for the season on May 9th & 10th, GTD is what started it all here at Backwoods and Plan on it being one of the Biggest events in the Northeast for all Off Road Rigs. GTD NH will feature Moccasin Creek & Big Chuk, along with The Boys of Rockingham, putting on over 5 hours of Live Music Saturday May 9th. Our summer schedule has some Private Events, along with White Trash Bash 2015, a redneck dream here at Backwoods, with Mud, Trails, Rocks and we are bringing in a mechanical bull for our Patrons to try their 8 seconds! Jon/WD: What is the cost to get in?
Backwoods Tom: Cost Varies per event from $20-$30 on most event days, but on a Non-event day we charge $10 per person to come in Play all Day!
Jon/WD: Is camping available?
Backwoods Tom: We have limited on-site camping for first come first serve.
Jon/WD: What are some of the best features of the park?
Backwoods Tom: We take pride in being very personable people, Myself or Wife are the ones who greet you at the Gate, and all our Staff are Happy to lend a hand to anyone who needs a Spotter, Winch or pic taken of your Busted Rig! When you come to one of our events you’ll have a great time and leave knowing…..It’s Always Better @ Backwoods!
