It’s been a while since we gave away the coveted title of Wheels Deep Bad A$$ of the week and we just couldn’t let Danny Christian in Honkey Kong sit there on on our homepage any longer. So this week… this lady of mud, Sabrina Cummings gets that title.
Our correspondent Jon Balzarini caught up with Sabrina and this is what he found out about this die hard mudding, mud truck, mud racing, mud anything fan and competitor.
Although Sabrina is part of my local Northern mud family, Many of you may already know her as She could be seen (along with her stuffed piggy Bacon) at any given mud event, at any given time, up and down the East Coast.
You shouldn’t be surprised to see her in her truck, Against All Odds, slinging mud with the best of them one weekend in Maine, then hanging with extended mud family in Florida or Georgia the next. She has done a lot of work to Against All Odds in the last couple years and it’s looking real good. So without Any further rambling, Heres what Sabrina had to say about her 86 Chevy Shortbox, Against All Odds.
- Truck Name: Against All Odds
- Owner/Driver/Where From: Sabrina Cummings. Bar Harbor, Maine…. On a little island off the coast of Maine. I’m a small town girl with big dreams.
- Years Owned: Six and a half years (since Aug ’08)
- Truck Model: 1986 Chevy Shortbox
- Engine: 489 bbc
- Tires/Lift: 1 ton axles, leaf springs, 6 inch lift, 37 inch boggers
- Awards/Competitions Won: A fair amount of trophies from local bogs. Though it’s really about having fun for me I do have quiet the competitive side.
- Favorite Mud Park/Events: Well my favorite mud park doesn’t exist anymore… Hunnewell Valley in Emden, Maine… now I’m addicted to any Trucks Gone Wild event North or South! I love to travel!!!
Fun Fact about your truck and/or yourself?: My Co-pilot is Bacon (a stuffed animal pig) he goes anywhere and everywhere my truck goes! I have many pictures of him with many friends near and far.
What got you into the mud biz? How long have you been at it? I’ve always been a “tom-boy”, grew up on four-wheelers and in high school the cool thing to do was go out mudding in trucks, jeeps, wheelers or whatever ya got.
Married? Kids? Are they involved? Nope not married… someday and I hope to have kids and when I do they will most definitely be involved!
If you could get behind the wheel of any other truck which would it be? A
favorite truck besides your own? If I got the chance I’d love to drive the “Monstah Lobstah” aka Crushstation Monster Truck from Maine. I have a few favorite trucks including Pumpkin Patch (Albert Hilton, NH), Swampy (Chad Bean, ME), and Sick 50 (Ryan Camp, GA).
What keeps you in the game? Putting smiles on faces (including my own) keeps me going and doing what I
do. The people you meet through this sport are incredible and become family.
Do you have any rituals or habits prior to a race day? I’m fairly superstitious… I’m constantly knocking on wood and crossing my
fingers I also tend to rub my pigs nose or give him a kiss for good luck. It’s kinda crazy and silly but before every mud bog or race I still get quiet nervous especially if I’m giving something new a try I work myself up so much, after I run I become extremely hyper though!
What’s one fun non-mud related fact we might not know about you? Wait what there’s more to life then mud bogs?! Haha… I absolutely love going deer hunting and ice fishing with my daddy! If you could vacation anywhere in the world where would you go? I truly live in a beautiful vacation spot but I’ll go anywhere there’s a
Everyone Keep a Eye out, you are apt to see Sabrina and Against All Odds
and any given event up and down the Eastern Seaboard!!
